I’ve often craved for the unreal to be real.

I used to go to Barnes & Noble every week, back when e-books couldn’t be immediately downloaded to your devices. While I was there I got a couple paperbacks, and then usually ended up grabbing a copy of either The Fortean Times or Skeptic magazine. I devoured the stories of alien abductions, spontaneous combustions, stigmata, men in trench coats that claimed to have escaped ‘The Matrix,’ werewolves, and ghost hunts.

And then later I found hidden and derelict message boards online, like unsolved-mysteries.com, devoted to paranormal sightings, out of body experiences, ouija board experiences, possessions, and other miscellaneous paranormal phenomena. They were presented as truth, but most of them were obviously fabricated. Unlike reddit board r/nosleep, where everyone is in on the fiction of it, the stories on unsolved-mysteries were presented as real…
